Octopuses are unusually intelligent creatures. They have the ability to make decisions and therefore have some control over their lives that reaches further than mere instinct. We have used the octopus as a symbol for the ability humans have to be conscious. To examine situations that may pose a problem for us in order to discover the appropriate response. Ask the Octopus is a workshop designed to encourage solution orientated thinking. To highlight the importance of using our minds wisely and with conscious awareness we discuss the emotive topics of WAR and PEACE. Utilising simple poetry, drawing and painting we approach social issues from a creative perspective. 3 hour workshop or 3 x 1 hour comprehensive lesson plans.
